Tequeños are popular as an afternoon snack, a bar bite and a small appetiser at parties. They're usually served with a dipping sauce such as guasacaca (Venezuelan avocado sauce). Tequeños are believed to come from the town of Los Teques, long a favourite holiday spot for people from Caracas. Their popularity has spread to other countries, where they're sometimes made with wonton wrappers or empanada dough. Tequeños can also be dressed up with extra fillings, such as diced ham or vegetables, and there are even dessert tequeños with sweet fillings. Preparation: thaw at room temperature for about 10-15 min. Heat the oil to 160 °C. Fry the snacks for approx. 3 min until golden brown, then drain on kitchen paper.
